AI PC Prices Could Increase By 15% As Demand Expected To Grow To 60% This Year

With the AI hype starting to kick into consumer markets, Canalys reports that AI PC segments will witness massive price bumps in the future.

The AI Hype To Take The PC Industry To New Heights, Prompting Massive Sales From Client & Consumer Markets But Also Resulting In Price Hikes

The market researcher says that the adoption of AI PCs is going to be massive in the industry, especially when it comes to consumer-oriented segments such as gaming. In modern times, we have seen every mainstream manufacturer, whether it is MSI or Lenovo, racing steadily to integrate AI features into their devices, and through the inclusion of Microsoft’s Copilot, this process has been catalyzed even further, attracting consumer interest at a considerable level.

Canalys reports that within this year, 19% of the personal computers shipped to the markets will be AI-infused, expected to grow to 60% by 2024. Hence, you can witness how big AI PCs are going to be.

This isn’t simply because of how AI has been a trend in the markets, but it is instead due to several reasons, with the significant one being how users are entering their generational upgrade cycles, and with the influx of AI PCs, shifting to new architectures have become attractive, more than ever. Moreover, companies are mending their applications in a way that convinces consumers to shift to new components as well.

With this sudden increase in demand, it is predicted that the pricing of AI PCs will gradually rise as well, with up to a 15% rise accrediting to the hype present in the markets, along with the supposed inflow of consumers and commercial demand.

With the AI integration kicking into mainstream applications, we expect massive growth in the respective computing segment, especially for components featuring built-in AI engines like NPUs, which means several modern-day architectures will be more pricey for a year now, simply due to how edge AI will become the next big thing.

This is simply the beginning. As soon as products such as Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite or several other AI-oriented ones penetrate the markets, we will see a tremendous rise in consumer volume, ultimately prompting massive sales, which will eventually benefit businesses. PC shipments are expected to hit 267 million units this year, according to a previous report from Canalys, and by the looks of it, we are indeed in the “green” zone.
