What Are the Fallout 4 Next-Gen Update Release Times?
The Next-Gen Update for Fallout 4 is confirmed to launch on Thursday, 25th April 2024, but we don’t have any exact times detailing when it’ll drop on the day. However, in the case of the PS Store on PS5, PS4, new games generally launch at 5pm BST when they don’t have a midnight release attached to a pre-order. Therefore, this is the most likely time Fallout 4 will release at:
- North America: 9am PDT / 10am MDT / 11am CDT / 12pm EDT
- UK/Ire: 5pm BST
- Europe: 6pm CEST / 7pm EEST
- Asia/Oceania: 1am JST / 12am AWST / 2am AEST

What Download Size Is the Fallout 4 Next-Gen Update?
The download size of Fallout 4 on next-gen consoles hasn’t been announced yet, but you should expect it to be a big one. Fallout 4 on PS4 is around 26GB, so with all the bells and whistles of a next-gen release, it could be quite a bit bigger. Also, if you’re downloading the game’s DLC packs, they’ll only add more to the overall download size.
How Do You Upgrade Fallout 4 from PS4 to PS5?
How you upgrade Fallout 4 from a PS4 version to PS5 depends on how you own the game. If you have a digital copy bought from the PS Store, you’ll be able to simply head back into the digital marketplace and search for Fallout 4. Once the PS5 version is released and surfaced, button through to where you’re offered the Download option. Replacing where the price normally is, you shouldn’t encounter any issues upgrading.
If you own a physical copy of Fallout 4 on a disc, you need to first insert the PS4 disc into your PS5 console. Then, go to the Game Hub on the system’s main menu screen and click on the three horizontal dots. Click the View Product option and then you should be taken to a new screen where you’re offered the Free PS5 Upgrade. This will download Fallout 4 for PS5, but you’ll need to keep the PS4 disc inside your PS5 console whenever you want to play the PS5 version because it acts as an activation key.
