Samsung confirms Galaxy S22 One UI 6.1 update taken off the air

Last weekend was an exciting one for owners of the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S21, Galaxy Z Fold 4, and Galaxy Z Flip 4 residing in Korea, as Samsung finally released the One UI 6.1 update for these devices. But the excitement was short-lived for those who own a Galaxy S22, S22+, or S22 Ultra.

Due to issues with some units failing to boot or unlock, the One UI 6.1 update for the Galaxy S22 series was taken off the air. The issues were reported by users in the Korean Samsung Community forums, and users who hadn’t already downloaded the update later confirmed that it was no longer available for download.

Now, Samsung has officially confirmed that the One UI 6.1 rollout for the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra has been paused. Samsung doesn’t seem to have revealed a reason for why the update was pulled, nor has it said when it plans to resume the rollout, though we can safely assume the boot and unlock issues reported by affected users are to be blamed for the former.

The issues are serious enough to warrant caution, and you should follow our advice in this article before installing One UI 6.1 on any Galaxy phone or tablet, not just the Galaxy S22 series phones.

Samsung has only released One UI 6.1 for flagship phones and tablets till now, but it is expected to start bringing mid-range devices into the mix soon. Hopefully the rollout for those devices will go smoothly and without any hitches.
