All New Guns, Armor In Helldivers 2’s Polar Patriots Warbond

Another Helldivers 2 Warbond is rolling out on May 9, not that long after our last one, but hey, we always need more things to spend medals (and super credits) on, right? This new Polar Patriots Warbond is arctic-themed, which I mean, I’m not sure what that means outside of one of the armor sets looking like a Star Wars Snow Trooper, a bit. No freeze ray guns or anything.

Sony has a full breakdown of what you can expect to get in the new Warbond, and it’s the same kind of stuff in all the other ones, though perhaps the new weapons might shake up the meta. Here’s the breakdown, after the trailer:

Weapons:

  • AR-61 Tenderizer – A high caliber assault rife with good stopping power but a small magazine.
  • SMG-72 Pummeler – A slow rate-of-fire SMG that “dazes and confuses” enemies with concussive rounds.
  • PLAS-101 Purifier – What appears to be an energy rifle you charge up over time that does big damage to enemies when fully charged. Seems like it may have limited range.

Equipment:

  • G-13 Incendiary Impact – Instantly-exploding white phosphorus grenade.
  • P-113 Verdict – Gas powered, semi-automatic pistol with the “largest centrefire cartridge” of its kind.
  • Motivational Shocks – Allows you to shed slowing effects like bug acid vomit. But not EMP fields.

Armor:

  • CW-36 Winter Warrior – Serve-assisted boost
  • CW-22 Kodiak – Fortified boost
  • CW-4 Arctic Ranger

Capes/Banners – Dissident’s Nightmare, Pinions of Everlasting Glory, Order of the Venerated Ballot

Emotes – Mime Instrumentation, Call the Helldivers and Distribute Ballots

I am most curious about the Purifier, the charge-up weapon that appears to be an energy rifle that can blow holes in large things. Pretty useful. I will also not say no to the impact incendiary grenade as I’m all about that fire spreading. The rest of it? We’ll see. Seems to be an emphasis on slow-shooting, heavy-hitting this time around but unfortunately, no, no ice guns.

This Polar Patriots pack will go live on May 9, a week from now, and like all other Warbonds it will not expire. Helldivers 2 continues its generally pretty player-friendly microtransaction system where you can grind for super credits to buy stuff like this, and you have to earn the unlocks through medals. Though I wonder how revenue might be for its live content, given the “generosity” here, and what Sony may have to say about that.
